Coal is an important source of energy power. Coal is used in generating electricity. Global demand for this type of energy will increase in the years to come. Coal is known to emit carbon dioxide which is harmful to the environment. But even then, it remains the most important source for generating energy power.
Global demand for consumption of energy supplied by coal will definitely increase in the years to come. China has utilised this energy to gain maximum benefits. About 82% of the electricity is generated in power grid plants in China. The Chinese economy has registered a high growth in recent years. This is because China thrives on the energy generated by coal. Coal prices are not as high as that of gas and oil. It is, thus, inexpensive mode of energy power. Since it is very cheap, demand for generation of electricity by means of coal will increase immensely.
Coal, as a means of generating energy, has gained hugh popularity . Clean coal technology is being developed by the engineers so that the hazardous effects of coal gets minimised. This technology helps in eradicating toxic emissions like carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide to a great extent.
The environment still bears the brunt of this form of energy power. Many organizations prefer generation of energy by wind and solar energy. Energy generated by coal leads to climatic changes. This form of energy creates numerous health problems. Sulphur dioxide emitted from the evolution of this energy is also not environment friendly and is responsible for acid rain. Vast areas of land get destroyed because of mining activity.
Bioenergy is another form of energy power which has gained importance as an important source of supplying energy. Bioenergy is produced by burning charcoal, black liquor and fuelwood. Biomass energy helps people around the world to use it for domestic purpose. Cooking food by availing this form of energy has gained prominence among the people.
Burning biomass to generate electricity has definitely found favour of many developed countries. The European Union’s biomass plan has decided that they will increase the consumption of biomass energy. By adopting this form of generating energy the cost of importing oil will go down. It will also control harmful gas emissions, thereby becoming environment friendly.
Biomass energy has engulfed itself in a debate of its various benefits. Soil erosion, deforestation and pollution are the negative effects of biomass energy.
Wind energy is an important source of energy power. Wind turbine helps in the generation of this form of energy. The output of energy depends on the size, location, height and type of wind turbine. The biggest drawback of this type of energy is that average wind speed has to be good in order to gain maximum benefit.
Therefore, one can conclude that different forms of energy power have both positive and negative aspects.
